Our Philosophy

Architectural Clarity.

We do not begin with aesthetics. We begin with how people move through space, how light changes over a day, and how a room must serve the life that will be lived within it.

Strategic Methodology

The 12 Artboard Framework.

Every Foster & Main project is guided by our proprietary 12 Artboard Kit — a rigorous framework that takes each commission from initial spatial conceptualisation to final material execution across twelve defined phases.

By documenting the evolution of a project across these phases, we ensure total alignment between your vision and the physical result — removing the ambiguity that makes most interior projects fall short of their potential.

01–03

Discovery & Conceptualisation

We begin by listening. Extended briefing sessions, spatial analysis, lifestyle mapping. We document your habits, your preferences, and the life you want the space to support before a single line is drawn.

04–06

Spatial Architecture & Layout

We resolve the architecture of the space before we consider its surface. Volume, proportion, circulation, light — these are the structural decisions that determine whether a room succeeds or fails at the deepest level.

07–09

Material Specification & Sourcing

We source materials with the same rigour we apply to form. Every stone, textile, metal and timber is selected for its physical and tactile qualities, not its surface appearance. We test materials before we finalise form.

10–12

Execution & Delivery

We manage every craftsperson, every contractor, every delivery. You are not required to project-manage your own home. That is our role — until the day the space is handed back to you, complete and exactly as specified.
